Creating Art or Revealing of the Heart

The Unfinished Muse written by Hazel S. dives deep into all the artists and dreamers' worlds, the beauty of what they can create and the depth into what their creations mean. It explores the emotions of writers' words, painters' artwork, actors' performances and singers' lyrics as well as other forms of art and emotions that go into everything, one's job and daily life.

“When art bleeds, silence speaks and creators burn.” - Hazel S.

Hazel S. truly has a way with writing, her words creep into your heart and make you truly feel whatever she writes about. She has a consistent style with her writing, she uses clear imagery and excellent rhyming. Her lines and poems make you go in depth into what it means to be an artist. She shows the pain that is turned into something beautiful through a person's art.

As a writer myself and a complete art lover, her appreciating and honest words for each form of art was truly moving. Her understanding and uplifting words about the struggles and joys of creating, dreaming and hoping is amazing and insightful.

Hazel S. also shares about daily tasks and different ways to look at them. The poem that will forever stick with me is the one where she shares the perspective of flight attendants, the sacrifices they make and the long hours they work while making sure we have a lovely flight.

Another favourite poem of mine was when she wrote about photographers and how they capture the world in an image and how that one picture can speak to so many.

This poetry book consists of 11 sections, 8 sections filled with detailed poetry, 2 for the readers to answer insightful questions and create some art. The last section is a lovely page where she thanks everyone who supported her. Her words to her family and friends are raw and full of appreciation. Hazel also thanks her readers with a lovely poem at the end too. This book is well organised, has beautiful watercolour pictures and images that connect with the book's theme and unforgettable quotes.

The Unfinished Muse is a dedication to those who have sacrificed and bled for their art and to those who have walked through a great deal of pain but still keep going. The poems reveals a deep pain and it reveals the strength that can be found in a single song, one line or one photograph.

I loved reading The Unfinished Muse and it's now officially one of my favourite poetry books.

To all the writers, artists, dreamers and creators this book is for you, each line a reminder of what one can create and how sometimes it hurts to create it, but as artists it's how we express ourselves and how we experience life.
