Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter

S
easonal Symphonies by Zowie Norris, is a lovely poetry book that explores our world's 4 seasons of weather and the different emotions each season brings.
Zowie brings each season to life with her beautiful words and imagery about the flowers, the sunsets, the golden leaves and the snowy Christmas.

This poetry book is divided into 5 sections, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter have their own sections and the last section is Four Seasons in One. Four Seasons in One, the final part of the book wraps up each season and how each season holds different moments, memories and how the sights around us change and how we change with it. My personal favourite part was Winter. I loved reading about the joy of the snowfall and the laughter and contentment Christmas brings. The poems that danced with the happiness that family brings made me smile as it reminded me how much I enjoy Christmas with my family too.

My favourite poems were; Song bird, The Haunted Poet and Remembering with Poppies. I especially loved Remembering with Poppies as its words celebrated the end of the war and I respect how the poem honours the men that were lost. Song bird is also an excellent poem and it flows so well with its consistent gentle rhyme and it reminds me of what it means to be free and to hope. One of my favourite lines is, “Moonlit melodies surf the seas, Dancing in the salt-laced spray with ease.” It flows so beautifully and calmingly.

Zowie Norris’s poems in her book have lovely rhymes and I love how she changes the rhyme scheme and how not all her poems rhyme, but still flow intricately about the seasons. Also the differences in the length of poems is amazing as it gives the reader a break from too long poems or too short poems. The quotes and super short poems were a nice read as still deeply thought provoking and allow your mind to soak in everything.

I recommend Seasonal Symphonies to nature lovers, people who notice the small details about the world around us and to those who want to get lost in the beauty of our world and the emotions it reminds us of.
